We will be having an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 16th at 1 p.m. in Ms. Putnam’s room (RM 216) to discuss the 7th Grade Orientation Day. Remember, as a member of National Junior Honors Society you must have at least 4.5 service hours of volunteer work every quarter. On August 16th we’ll explain exactly what you’ll be doing on 7th Grade Orientation Day (which will be held on Friday, August 19) . You can also stay after the meeting to help teachers prepare their classrooms for the new school year; helping teachers can count towards your service hours (plus, they REALLY appreciate the help). Plan to stay at least another hour after our meeting (until about 2:45 p.m.) if you want to help teachers. If you are unable to do this on the 16th, there will also be time on the 19th after the 7th Grade Orientation Day.
On Friday, August 19th, you must arrive at Midvale Middle School at 7 a.m. for 7th Grade Orientation Day. You can ride the bus to school with the 7th graders on this day; if this is the case, you won't be there right at 7, but it will still be okay. The orientation will run from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. You can stay after the orientation day to volunteer your time to help teachers in their classrooms, if you could not stay after our meeting on August 16th.
This is a great way to complete your service hours before the first quarter of school even begins! Check www.midvalenjhs.wikispaces.com for updates and information about NJHS. You can look at the calander and also see other announcements. We hope to see all of you August 16th!
If you will be unable to attend, please e-mail Ms. Putnam at jill.putnam@canyonsdistrict.org or call the school at 801-826-7300 and leave a message for Ms. Putnam.
